The areas around San Antonio, especially to the north, have become popular with families seeking a new home site out of the metropolitan area. To fill their desires, developers have purchased large acreage tracts for subdividing and we have been there to plan the layout, taking into consideration topography, drainage, streets & other items.
County subdivisions are typically larger tracts for single family homes. These tracts usually range from 3 acres up to 25 acres with water provided by private wells. Occasionally, subdivisions will have water systems with smaller tracts. Approval for these subdivisions must be obtained from the county government.
Within the city are more densely developed subdivisions. Much like the highly developed rural subdivisions, they require careful planning, street and drainage design and utility design. These subdivisions, along with plans for proposed improvements must be approved by the city government.
Required by State law, cities utilize Development plats to help plan and control development. They are a prerequisite to the development of unplatted land within the city limits of Boerne and Boerne's extra territorial jurisdiction.
Much like a subdivision, Engineers and Surveyors work together to prepare documents for submission to City government.
